Hornbill Festival is a week-long celebration held every year in the northeastern state of Nagaland, India. The melange of intertribal interactions and celebrations is a week long affair which is held in the first week of December every year.
Traveller or not, the festival is called ‘Festival of Festivals’ for a reason! There is everything for everyone who visits, catering to everyone’s need be it colourful performances, observing and buying local art or even trying out scrumptious local cuisine and delicacies.
Definitely, a once in a lifetime experience, the list of what to do and experience does not end here. The festival highlights local culture (folk dances, native games and sports) and traditions of the tribes, introduces you to local herbal medicine and indigenous varieties of plants and flowers. Even the Indian Army organises a rally to be the part of this euphoric festival, absolutely a key attraction!
The famous rock show of the Hornbill festival showcases Indian and International performances. A music or rock lover should definitely add this to their itinerary.
