Blogger of the Week : Shivani Boruah

The immense love and support from you ‘Creative Heads’ have been surreal over the past few years. Inspiro India wishes to grow with the growing population of ‘#inspiroindia‘. We’re continuously working to bring great content to anyone and everyone following us on various platforms.

This year we present to you, an all new feature presenting ‘The Blogger of the Week’.

Shivani is a fun loving person and love dogs! Apart from being a blogger, she is a  musician and is currently working on her E.P. “The Velvet Radio is something through which I speak my mind. It’s basically a visual story teller. Currently it has the following major sections : Fashion, Lifestyle, IAndAThing. ‘IAndAThing’ is where I feature people who are living their dreams and in some way inspire me to work on my dreams. Also, June onwards, I have started a ‘music’ section where I would cover major music concerts across India and a few music related talks( The first and the latest one being ‘The Music Scene In North- East India: A Retrospective’). Coming to the fashion section, which is the crucial section of the blog, I mostly try to come up with conceptual ideas so as to be able to tell stories through the pictures. As I go by my motto- “Let Art Begin”, I love to experiment with my wardrobe.” Boruah talks about her blog.

Shivani Boruah

The Velvet Radio is a visual storyteller drawing major inspiration from Art. “I try to portray a few grey areas of the society through my pictures( Two such blog posts being–  Mannequin and Phantom Bride ). In the days to come, I want to bring to light more such grey areas of our society.” As she continues to talk about her blogging ideas.

Shivani’s style is all about comfort. Although she experiments a lot, it always revolves around comfort.

“Art and a lot of Art. Apart from it, its the people around me, people on the streets who inspire me. Also, it’s the kind of music I listen to helps me draw my inspiration from  ‘cause I like to move along, groove with the music, dance or headbang a little bit, so yeah, that’s the kind of clothes I usually prefer to wear in which I am comfortable to do all these! Plus one of the major source of inspiration is the nature itself! I also draw inspiration from the trend forecasts by the elite magazines and webzines but try to add the me- flavour to it.” Shivani shares about her inspirations.

Well, It was last year July that I took my writing skills and ideas about fashion a little seriously and started blogging. Although I kicked off TVRadio as a Fashion Blog, now it has many other sections too. I have a great interest in putting my thoughts into words and then I also needed a platform to showcase my ideas behind fashion with a poetic flare. Fashion, for me, is a creative expression and a beautiful form of art. My blog serves as a medium for my visual/ photo stories.”

Shivani talks about the blogging industry, “ It is good to see how the blogging- industry is developing but also at the same time there is a lot of grapevine around it. People usually do not know how much time and effort bloggers and photographers spend on one concept. Also, in blogging it is very much important to be original and never copy the style and content of an already- famous blogger. Two of the key traits a blogger has to have are: Patience and Honesty. I don’t endorse brands with which I can’t relate my style to. My blog is a personal blog portraying two of my passions: Fashion and Music. I wanted a name that would highlight both, hence, the name. Velvet signifies fashion and Radio signifies music. Well, since my blog is pretty new, I do not have a huge follower base. Plus as I am mostly into an editorial theme, people can’t always relate to it. But yeah, it’s the youngsters around the age group of 15- 30 yrs within and across the nation.”

As she moves ahead with her future plans, “ I want to be better w.r.t., the kind of work that I have been doing. At times, I don’t get what I seek from the photographers, as in, there is a clash of taste and interest. And it is very important to maintain your flare throughout no matter who you work with. Its my creative direction that I put into my pictures, so as to master it I want to develop good photography skills. I do not shoot and am still in my learning phase with my Canon 700D. I use my iPhone for on- the-go pictures. My photographers get their own cameras but I only work with photographers who understand my flare and with whom I am very confident shooting.”

Shivani gives us two tips regarding blogging, “Never lose your originality and develop  the basics of photography and editing.”

Blogger of the Week : Mawi Neitham

The immense love and support from you ‘Creative Heads’ have been surreal over the past few years. Inspiro India wishes to grow with the growing population of ‘#inspiroindia‘. We’re continuously working to bring great content to anyone and everyone following us on various platforms.

This year we present to you, an all new feature presenting ‘The Blogger of the Week’.

Mawi is a 90s kid, who’s obsessed with fashion, food & of course Selena Gomez! haha
Apart from that, she considers herself as an (annoying) perfectionist. Her blog is a reflection of who she is and what she believes. Mawi says, “I write about my take on fashion and my personal fashion choices. If you love thrift (and budget) shopping, Welcome to my world! I try and keep it as real as possible and this might come as a shock to most of you but I do not see my blog as a means of making money because to be honest, I started my blog out of passion and even today my main focus is to share my love for fashion and style to my readers and followers rather than making my blog a source of income.”

Mawi Neitham

On asking about her sense of style, she quotes, “I do not have any specific style. I love experimenting and how I dress up depends on my mood. I can go from edgy streetstyle to feminine all in a week. The only thing that’s constant for me while picking up an outfit is Comfort! I make sure that I’m comfortable in whatever I wear”.
Mawi loves spending multiple hours on Instagram and Pinterest and that’s pretty much where most of her inspiration comes from.

Mawi talks about her blog as how she initiated, “ I started my blog in 2013. Being a college student who’s constantly on a budget, I always had a hard time finding budget friendly blogs especially in India and that’s where my inspiration for starting a blog came from. I’ve always believed that fashion does not come with a heavy price tag and you can always stay stylish and be on trend without burning a hole in your pocket! That’s what I try and convey my readers through my blog.”

“It’s quite interesting to see how the blogging industry has grown over the years and people have (up to an extent) realized the worth of bloggers. I love the fact that blogging helps us connect to people worldwide and seeing them getting inspired from our blogs is one of the best feeling ever” Mawi talks about her take on blogging..

On asking about her blog’s name, “I’ve always loved thrift shopping and collecting vintage pieces since the very beginning and while deciding my blog’s name I knew I wanted to include my name along with something I love. So that’s how Mawi’svintage was born (hehe)”

Her audience are mostly teenagers and young adults!
“I love watching fashion and beauty channels on Youtube so I’m thinking of giving Vlogging a try. But considering the perfectionist that I am, I want to make sure all my videos are perfect to the T so maybe I’ll learn to edit first and let’s see where it takes me. *fingers crossed*” Mawi talks about her future plans.
Regarding cameras, Mawi uses Nikon D7000 when shooting on her own but when she’s working with photographers, they usually use their own cameras.
“It’s totally cool to draw inspiration from latest fashion trends or influencers but make sure you give it your own twist. Also, don’t follow trends blindly! If you wanna start a blog of your own, the only thing I would suggest is to be yourself. Just keep it real because that’s how this blogging industry works. Love what you do and try to be as consistent as possible. Apart from that, just enjoy and have fun blogging!” Mawi advices people about blogging.

Blogger of the Week : Varun Singhania

The immense love and support from you ‘Creative Heads’ have been surreal over the past few years. Inspiro India wishes to grow with the growing population of ‘#inspiroindia‘. We’re continuously working to bring great content to anyone and everyone following us on various platforms.

This year we present to you, an all new feature presenting ‘The Blogger of the Week’.

Varun Singhania aka BeardsEyeView is many things but mostly a photographer, a personal style blogger and a hardcore beard enthusiast. He says he is a misfit, a non-conformist and an introvert.

While talking about his blog, he says, “My blog is a showcase of my personal style and experiments with my own wardrobe. My blog is an amalgamation of my personal style, my experiments in fashion, and a bit of travel and photography. I don’t endorse brands I don’t stand behind or the ones that don’t represent my personal style. It’s how I view fashion and how I like to see it on myself. I’m also not your typical tuxedo-wearing slick-haired dapper blogger.”

“My style is very fluid and it keeps evolving, but more often it’s a fusion between hipster and grunge/ street.” As he talks about his style.

Varun Singhania

His inspiration is a lot of Italian, Asian (Indian & Korean), underground street and tribal fashion.

Also, fashion within music, especially from the 80s inspires a lot.

Varun started blogging about 3 years ago and it was around the time He started growing  beard as well (pun intended). He says, “In fact, my beard was pretty much the game changer. It made me switch up my style and up my fashion game and I began documenting it. I also got into a lot of photography around the same time and my personal Instagram just evolved into a blog from there on.”

Varun’s take on blogging, “I believe that blogging should be a representation of who you are and what your views are. Whatever the core of it might be, it should always be authentic and stem from your own creativity. I don’t believe in blogs & bloggers that turn into mere advertisements and billboards.”

Varun’s blog was initially just his Instagram where he used to post his everyday photography and edits. It had nothing to do with fashion initially. “Around the same time I began growing a beard, and I began to be known as “beardie”. And it just suddenly hit me one day that I wanted an alias name; one that would be representative of not just my beard but also my vision. A friend and I got thinking, and the same day we came up with ‘Beards Eye View’ as a pun on the phrase ‘Bird’s Eye View’.”

He says, “My audience is a mix of beard enthusiasts, guys who want to switch up their style and women who appreciate a man who tries different things.” They’re scattered between the age group 15-30yrs and mostly from India, Italy and USA.

Varun says wherever his blog takes him regarding his future plans with blogging. “My interests are split between my blog and my photography currently, and I’m trying to find a way to fuse both. I want to experiment more with contemporary Indian fashion and also include more travel oriented content on the blog.”

He uses a Canon 6D and a GoPro, and occasionally iPhone.

Varun gives advice to readers would be to not judge. Never judge anyone for their style, their views and their take on things.

Two tips to future bloggers would be 1) Hire or collaborate with a good photographer. Quality pictures always make a great impression. Also, learn how to edit your own pictures/ videos. 2) Be yourself and experiment within your own style and comfort zone. Don’t be a sell out.

Blogger of the Week : Dolly Singh

The immense love and support from you ‘Creative Heads’ have been surreal over the past few years. Inspiro India wishes to grow with the growing population of ‘#inspiroindia‘. We’re continuously working to bring great content to anyone and everyone following us on various platforms.

This year we present to you, an all new feature presenting ‘The Blogger of the Week’.

Dolly Singh says, “ My  father took the liberty to name me Dolly Singh and I happen to like french fries and a pair of good shoes equally. I am known to be quite photogenic, basically quite ugly in real life. Jk. I also happen to try outfits at 4am.” Dolly tells us how her blog started with the need to tell girls that repeating clothes is okay and you don’t have to judge others and yourself when that happens. Key is, do it differently each time. That’s what She started with, later delving into experimental fashion and just anything she wanted to try out.

Dolly Singh

Dolly narrates “ I do not fit into any mould there is. I do what I please and play around. The blog for me is only an escape and a place to let my creative juices  flow. You will not find me doing the same thing as 50 other fashion bloggers.. I don’t believe I have one particular style. Sometimes I wake up wanting to portray a hippie from the 70s and the next day it is a girl-boss avatar. “ Everything works for Miss Singh. She says her inspiration comes from things around her. Her friends, strangers, plants, coffee, a dog, just anything. She started two years ago because all the blogs she followed were talking about the fancy shmancy brands around while she could only afford Sarojini Nagar and Forever21’s sale section. Hence she decided to do something about it and here we are! “Blogging is an amazing way to vent out your energy in the right direction and also be known. You can talk about anything and everything you like. And even though ‘fashion blogging’ is now being mistaken for jazzy Instagram accounts with huge followings, I hope the trend will fade out soon and the people who genuinely know what they’re doing will stay!” She discusses. On discussing about her blog’s name, Dolly tells, “ When I was contemplating a name for the blog I knew for sure I wanted the word ‘sass’ in there, (basically I had learnt a new fancy word!). I also wanted to stay away from words like style, fashion, vogue, etc. That’s how Spill The Sass was born.” She says she is proud on having build a young yet smart niche audience. People who genuinely follow her work and put in their feedback and suggestions from time to time and The blog will go on. Miss Singh have  a Canon 600D but she barely use it as most of her pictures are taken by some really kind and talented photographers.

“The only advice to the readers of blogs is to actually go and read what the blogger has to say. It is not just about the pictures. Young upcoming bloggers need to remember two things, first, focus on what they want to do through the blog instead of looking at what others are doing. Second, let it take time, numbers will follow. Rome was not built in a day.” Her advice to all the budding bloggers.

Archita Rajkumari

Archita’s blog is very much authentic and aesthetic. She doesn’t believe in following trends blindly. As she says, “Fashion is all about being comfortable in what you wear and show it off with your confidence.” Her blog will help you with fashion trends that you can carry everyday without any doubt. In her blog, you will find everything about comfortable wear and how you can mix and match to change a day look to a night look without working too hard. Her blog is different than others as it very much depicts her music tastes which basically is from the post 60s. She loves to mix and match different eras of fashion and music and come up with new sense of style.

Archita’s sense of style is very comfort based which is the most attractive part of the blog. She portrays a very bold sense of style in a very graceful way. You will find diverse posts and each of her posts are different from each other. She talks about her inspiration has come from the music icons she follows and listens to and also from her mother. Archita said, “ My mother owns a very classy wardrobe which involves a lot of shades of subtle colours like whites, nudes and blues. She is very much bold with the looks but she carries everything so beautifully that inspired me to what my fashion sense is today.”

She started her blog when she was a 18 year old girl. Her blog was initially all about her lyrical poems and observations of life. She discontinued it due to few personal reasons and she finally restarted her blog with fashion posts in the summers of 2016. Everybody appreciated her with love and gave her different views regarding it.

She talks about blogging and how the industry is actually growing right now. She says, “Currently, blogging industry has grown a lot from the past five years as different fashion icons from different cities have started their own blog which is actually inspiring lot many young girls. This blogging game has gone so strong currently that even fashion magazine and events have been promoting various brands and influencers through different collaborative ways.”

The story behind her blog’s name is mostly based on an imaginary girl like her who had to deal everything alone by herself and sail through life’s boat building herself up with new lessons who wanted to fly and be free in life. That is why the name goes as The Blue Girl With Wings.

Her audience is mostly young girls and middle aged women who loves to experiment with different styles and trends and get the boost to carry with confidence. She says her audience has people from all age group mostly and she gets comments and reviews from different people from different places of this world. Her future plans mostly includes of promoting a good sense of fashion amongst people and encourage them to carry with their confidence and be comfortable in whatever they wear. She emphasises on the word comfort and confidence more and says “You should always stick to what you believe and not care about what others gonna think as life is all about yourself and not about people’s judgements.” That’s what her advice is to the readers. She also suggests two tips for all those people who’d love to start their own blog- firstly, always know what you want to portray and what others should convey from your posts. Be sure of who you’re before portraying an image of yourself to this world. Secondly, never copy others and never follow the crowd. Stand out on your own and create your own trend and ideas. Live an evidence of your life as much as you can by being who you are.

Inspiro India is a beautiful platform for all the creative people who actually can finally showcase their work and ideas to the world. This magazine is an amazing initiative to encourage art and talent to bloom amongst everyone.

Blogger of the Week : Tanvi Srivastava

The immense love and support from you ‘Creative Heads’ have been surreal over the past few years. Inspiro India wishes to grow with the growing population of ‘#inspiroindia‘. We’re continuously working to bring great content to anyone and everyone following us on various platforms.

This year we present to you, an all new feature presenting ‘The Blogger of the Week’.

To Tanvi Srivastava, fashion and style come organically. Younger Tanvi always helped her family and friends to figure out what would flatter them and build their respective styles to a much flattering way. She gained a better perspective on style and ventured out of comfort zone during her time at NIFT and still continues to do that after graduation!

Tanvi Srivastava

She now runs her blog ‘TheDuskess‘ spanning over fashion, beauty, travel and lifestyle. Tanvi believes in being realistic and flaunts her Indian skin tone with pride. She says most of her audience is aged between 15-35 years old which can get a real and positive image, ideas and inspiration from, TheDuskess’s social media rather than following false masses and popular culture that propagates white skin obsession. She believes in highlighting the Indian skin tone and also does not hide her birth marks which most of the today’s trends force us to. Tanvi says, ‘I’ll never be the one to promote skin lightening products, slimming teas and their likes on my social platforms’.

Her personal style is extremely comfortable, also extremely wearable in Indian diaspora! She likes presenting her audience with practical and functional wardrobe even for public transportation. An avid street style lover, she says street style has massive potential, and it amazes her how individual and subjective it can get!  She hopes to continue to find the drive and courage to experiment with new styles and looks and to always have respect, consideration and appreciation for her audience.

A year ago, Miss Srivastava discovered Instagram and its amazing capabilities to make her feel more connected to the rich brown skin tones. Only if she had known more realistic and relatable avatars of Sushmita Sen, Bipasha Basu, and Priyanka Chopra to look at and interact with. That’s when the idea of ‘TheDuskess’ came into being.

As a kid, she always related to the duskier celebrities, after being told off by the commercial mass media, and the Indian beauty and fashion industry. She finds immense joy in celebrating all skin colours regardless of brown, black or white. To embrace what we are born with rather than fighting is what made her think of the name ‘TheDuskess’ which certainly rhymes with Duchess! It is a statement of the sort, directed towards anybody who thinks dark skin is pitiful when it is not!

Blogging is not what meets the eye, one must have the skills of photography, picture editing, writing, marketing, public relations and much more.  As a blogger, she has to constantly keep honing all these skills, whilst simultaneously creating content that is real, honest and relatable, says Tanvi. Tanvi uses a Canon Rebel T5i. It offers a great value for money with an ease of self-shooting for her, thanks to the flip-out screen! She also recommends a DSLR with a flip out screen for anybody interested in blogging!

As long as the work is driven by passion, the content one puts out will consistently have creative value and worth says the young blogger. Blogging is the art of infusing your style with your innermost thoughts and feelings, viewing the Blogger status as somewhat of celebrity will get one nowhere believes Tanvi Srivastava. Staying honest and true to the audience whilst liking and replying to their comments is a must. She says, ‘The success of your blog is directly proportional to the strength of your relationship with your readers!’.

Blogger of the Week : Devesh Baheti

The immense love and support from you ‘Creative Heads’ have been surreal over the past few years. Inspiro India wishes to grow with the growing population of ‘#inspiroindia‘. We’re continuously working to bring great content to anyone and everyone following us on various platforms.

This February we present to you, an all new feature presenting ‘The Blogger of the Week’.

An aeronautical engineer by the day, 22-year-old Devesh Baheti jokes how he saves the world at night with fashion blogging! Born and brought up in Hyderabad, Devesh believes to make the best lemonade possible when life throws lemons at you, both sour and sweet. He describes himself to be neither carefree nor distressed which is clearly visible in his Instagram handle (_thenakedsoul_) of choice!

Devesh “TNS” Baheti

The blog, ‘The Naked Soul’ is primarily based on lifestyle and fashion which whirls around charismatic stories and sagas of couture, clothes and costumes. To him, it’s a platform and a diary where he can talk about the things he loves with utmost passion and a tongue in cheek attitude! The blog quickly escalated after having successfully created a niche for itself in three years on Instagram.

Baheti is true to his style and proves to be hundred percent authentic to its syntax. Where his fellow bloggers are already turning out to be huge media influencers, he feels his blog doesn’t hold the burden of any influence or sponsorship. He’d rather focus on his niche of being a lifestyle blogger and curate stories that are directed towards the audience than cover an event that’s off topic and off-brand as an influencer. The stories and words penned by him on the website are true to his individual work and devoid of pressure. Devesh proudly believes in quality over quantity, for sure.

Greatly fascinated by someone who is opinionated, he respects the fact that someone constructively and creatively creates an outlet to vent and pen his or her thoughts through blogging. The personality and creativity can be morphed into so many different things which are endearing, exciting and intimidating, gets him. The inspiration to start blogging came naturally and also to have a proper platform like Instagram to showcase what he loves.

His journey started when he was introduced to Instagram by his brother. Being a ‘Waldorf school’ graduate, the impeccable blogger was an avid journal keeper. The ‘valencia’ filter was the only thing that intrigued him on Instagram. An eventual random post of an excerpt from his diary ended up being well received and liked by the community. It resonated a lot of fellow photographers, artists, bloggers and liked minded humans to his drool-worthy Instagram Feed!

This brings us to the style aspect of The Naked Soul’. Devesh says, ‘style to me is not what you wear, it’s how you wear something. Confidence is my style’. A mix of sophisticated and a little hipster-inspired he uses the word ‘schizophrenic’, in the sense it keeps changing with his mood.

From a high-end sharp fitted suit to rocking just a basic white tee, he doesn’t want to be limited to any one style. He steers clear of trends and strongly believes in being comfortable and glamorous at the same time! Nevertheless, he says his style is still evolving.

On talking about the general take on people about blogging, he says it is sad that it is not taken seriously, perhaps because of the frivolous and glamorous tag it comes with. Intrigued with goodies and the photo shoots, people are unaware that it’s a full-time job. A blogger is a self-employed entrepreneur and a content creator in terms of working with brands. The photo shoots and location choices are not mere fun but a content creation based digital business, says Baheti. Half-hearted blogging and doing sponsored post doesn’t make one a blogger, according to him proper time and mind investment is the key to blogging!

The story behind the blog name is always a fun thing to know. When asked what made him stick to the blog name ‘The Naked Soul’, the engineer remembered when he was once on a call with his best friend. Wanting to change his Instagram handle to something fancier, he ended up debating for hours into the night. He says he wanted something which made him feel empowered as well as vulnerable at the same time! Hence, The Naked Soul was born.

The Naked Soul caters to an audience of teenagers to 20-23-year-olds from countries like India, US, UK and even European countries. Since the niche is pretty young and majorly targeted towards the Fashion Conscious, he does have a pretty solid reach with the older age group in the middle eastern countries which is surprising because he has personally never thought about someone older to him in Abu Dhabi wanting to read his fashion-oriented content. To our amazement, ‘The Naked Soul’ collectively sees a traffic of around 6,000-10,000 clicks on the website each month!

Baheti usually gets clicked by his friends Abhishek, Arpita and Shreya with equipment such as a Canon 1200D, Canon 5D Mark III, and a Canon 650D respectively. 50mm and the 35mm are his preferred lenses.

As for the future, he wishes his plans are a gift to him and that he is totally ‘worthy of’ and ready for them!

On asking him what he’d like to advise the readers and future bloggers, he says, ‘Just start!’. He thinks everything and everyone has become brand oriented, people who start blogging about a month or two ago, want to see results in forms of affiliate programmes, collaborations, VIP event passes and 1000’s of Instagram followers which sadly doesn’t happen overnight. In the process of branding, marketing and positioning oneself as a blogger, people forget to roll out good content.

Devesh Baheti also stresses on the fact that in the midst of brand deals, a blogger will end up being manipulated, mistreated or misunderstood as well. The key to starting a blog and be successful at is to be sincere, real and passionate!

‘One shall also voice his or her opinion but never let the naysayers’ deject you!’ says Baheti.

Blogger of the Week : Monalisha Mahapatra

The immense love and support from you ‘Creative Heads’ have been surreal over the past few years. Inspiro India wishes to grow with the growing population of ‘#inspiroindia‘. We’re continuously working to bring great content to anyone and everyone following us on various platforms.

This February we present to you, an all new feature presenting ‘The Blogger of the Week’.

The GreyHalfway is an exquisite blog run by Monalisha Mahapatra who is a Fashion, Travel and Luxury Blogger and Stylist based in Delhi. A fun loving person and chirpy around her friends which is hard to make out when you first look at her ‘numb looking’ pictures, she says. Monalisha blogs about fashion, travel and luxury lifestyle which is true to her personality and distinguishes her from the others.

Monalisha Mahapatra // Photo by ©Bhuwan Gupta

She defines her style to be comfortable and yet poised. Her pictures are a delight to look at as she takes her inspiration from art. The GreyHalfway started in August of 2015 when she just wanted to upload her pictures from photography and modelling on a website.

(As delightful as her pictures are to look at, we couldn’t help but wonder about the story behind her blog name!) Ms Mahapatra came up with the name when she was working for a fashion brand. A random search for cable knit sweaters and grey mufflers on Pinterest led her to be fascinated by the colour ‘Grey’. She randomly came up with the name ‘GreyHalfway’ which was then bought by her friend. A consequent squabble between them barred her from using the name for her website.

Since Monalisha was so intrigued by the colour Grey, she came up with the idea of adding ‘The’ in her blog name hence ‘The GreyHalfway’ was born!

TheGreyHalfway is a hit among 18-24-year-olds and is spread all over the world. Monalisha uses Canon Mark III for her pictures. The washed out grey effect to her pictures is how she abides by her blog name and not to forget her love for the colour grey.

She’d like to point out to how her blog and even other female bloggers often come across people who text her for personal contact and gains. Monalisha says she finds it creepy and offensive when she gets direct messages and even pictures on Instagram, Snapchat and Emails from people. She’d like the readers to know that her blog is her full-time profession and people should stop contacting her for personal interests.

Regular content posting and individual personality are the tips she’d like to give to someone who’d want to start blogging. Copying others is a strict no-no.
